Nissan Short with Fantastic Direction & Score

I came across this wonderful video on Nissan’s website. It doesn’t look like an actual ad, but the production value is astonishing. I wonder who composed the song?

On rental cars

On the way from the airport to my hotel last night, I was surprised to find that our rental Jeep had a CVT. I was even more surprised that the driver (my colleague) didn’t seem to notice. The following morning, I was somewhat shocked when my other colleague drove off in his Altima in the faux 1st gear. I informed him that he had maneuvered the gear selector into ‘manumatic’ mode, instead of D. He said it explained why his drive home from the airport had been so jerky. Since the Altima also has a CVT, the 1st gear setting simply keeps the revs around 4,000.

I had to laugh in the second situation, because I can understand how unintuitive the gear selector seemed to somebody not already familiar with the concept. It’s close to the situation referenced in the movie quote and clip below:

“What gear are you in?”
